At Hammer & Pencil Ltd I appreciate that all projects have a budget and my aim is to provide potential customers with enough detailed cost information before work starts to allow informed choices to be made and minimise uncertainty.
Itemised breakdowns
Hammer & Pencil quotes are not presented as a lump sum figure. Sums are broken down into seperate elements as appropriate to the scale of the project and always show materials and labour seperately.
Provisional Sums
For some materials where customers have extensive choices, for example floor tiling or bathroom fittings such as taps, quotes include a provisional sum or rate. My breakdown might show floor tiles supplied at £25/m2 provisional rate, but once underway if the customer chooses a tile that happens to be on offer or has a lower standard cost then the saving is passed directly to the customer.
Fixed price or estimated cost?
Where my quotes include "estimated" i.e variable amounts, this will be stated with an explanation. For example when working with renovations, on occasion it is not possible to physically see the condition of covered parts of the building until work has started.
Day rate or hourly rate work available
For smaller projects or repeat customers I am happy to provide quotes based on day or hourly rate by request.
